You don't realize how precious those memories are until you need them.Very recently, my mother passed away from a heart attack. It was unexpected and we were all in shock, nothing can ever prepare you for the loss of a loved one and having to plan their funeral. As the older sibling I took on most of the responsibilities and one of them was to make the slideshow that would be playing at my moms memorial. I spent days asking friends and family for photos, I was able to scrape up several from Facebook, but there were hardly any from her younger years. My mom had two tubs of photos stacked away in the closet, so me and my Aunt sorted through them and pulled out every image of my mom and I realized there wasn't as many as I thought. Although I was thankful that we had a huge stack, I will never forget that feeling in the pit of my stomach that I didn't have enough.
Losing my mom is the worst thing I have ever had to go through in life, and as the months go by I find myself sinking and even to this day 6 months later, I still haven't preserved any of her belongings. Her entire life now belongs to me and my younger brother and I've realized these images will be all we have to hold on to of her. I cannot stress to you enough how important it is to have something you could hold in your hands, something you could set out on the coffee table, look at every day, and remember how beautiful that person was. Albums are a timeless reminder of joyful moments and cherished memories from happy times in our lives. Please start printing out your images and putting them in photo albums, you never know what tomorrow will bring. As a photographer it is my job to preserve your memories and this is why I offer heirloom albums.
