When I was a child, my mom and grandparents always had tons of family photos hanging all over the house. Some were “professional” portraits, some were school photos, some were snapshots from family vacations; but there were all there, printed and framed for all to enjoy. Recently we went through a box of old photos and discovered some from several generations ago! It was marvelous to see those old photos! Too many homes today do not have ANY framed family photos on the walls, or hardly any printed photos at all! With the popularity of Facebook and such sites, most of us live in the digital world almost to the exclusion of all else. We post millions of photos on our “digital walls”, but then what? If technology has taught us anything, it is that it is ever-changing. Someday, sooner than we think, there will be no Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat, etc. and those photos will be gone. All those CD’s and Flash Drives containing all our treasured memories will become obsolete and those memories will be lost.
Our grandchildren might not have any way to access any old family photos to marvel at. Future generations might have no way of knowing what their Great-Great Grandparents even looked like. Let’s change the trend! Let’s return to the days when we proudly printed our photos and displayed them out here in the real world! I myself do provide at least one print with my photo session packages. Even if you do not use a professional photographer, please START PRINTING YOUR PHOTOS! You don’t want to look back someday and say, “I wish I still had those photos of my Grandma” or “I wish I could show you how much your baby pictures resemble your Great Grandfather.”
